Direct buying groups are an opportunity created and organized jointly by buyers-enthusiasts to get fresh organic local food on a regular weekly basis, buying it directly from organic farmers , investing their time.In Latvia, direct buying groups have been formed during the last three years and within the movement there are already more than 15 groups in Riga and other cities (Sigulda, Cēsis, Valmiera, Smiltene, Ikšķile, Ādaži, and others). In total, there are currently more than 500 families and more than 70 organic farmers and home producers.
