About
Bel Akker is the urban agriculture workshop of Atelier Groot Eiland. The project includes 4 vegetable gardens where "high value crops" are cultivated: La Petite Senne at Quai du Hainaut, L'abattoir sur le toit des Abattoirs, Armonea in Anderlecht and Hélifarm ( more info and a short film ) in the North Quarter, a professional urban vegetable garden and a communal garden on the plateau of Chaussée d'Anvers on 1500m² in collaboration with Velt and De Harmonie.

By developing a guided activity for and through the district on this plateau on the roof of the Helihaven, these organizations want to bring more dynamism, social cohesion and cleanliness around this site. These 4 gardens in the center work according to the SPIN-farming method: Small Plot Intensive Farming. The 5th Courjette garden of 1 hectare on the UZ site in Jette is a CSA project: Community Supported Agriculture: agriculture supported by the community.
